Trek Ethiopia Eco Tours meets all guests arriving at the airport regardless of arrival time. For morning flight arrivals you may begin your tour after checking into your hotel. For afternoon or evening arrivals, you may begin your tour the following day.

Addis Ababa - Mekele
Visit the Emperor Haile Selassie’s final resting place, Trinity Cathedral. Take a tour of the Ethnographic Museum to learn more about Ethiopian history and culture. Visit Maryam Church and take a quick drive to Entoto Hills to see the cityscape. Stop at Sheromeda’s traditional cloth market while traveling. See one of Addis Abeba’s two main markets, the Mercato or the Sholla Market. Take an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Mekele in the late afternoon.

Mekele - Ahmedela
Meet the support cars and travel through Berhaile to reach Ahmedela. Set up camp and watch as camel caravans pass by against the striking backdrop of dusks.

Lake Asale and Dalol Excursion
Watch the salt workers as they remove bricks of salt from the lake bed when you visit Lake Asale. After being sold on the open market, the bricks are loaded onto camel caravans and driven to the highlands. Travel to Dalol to see the striking and vibrant geological formations brought about by the sulfurous, potassic, and salt-rich hot springs.

Erta Alle - Lake Afdera Hot Springs - Addis Ababa
Travel to Dodom. Walk 4 kilometers uphill to the 613-meter-high Erta Alle Volcano Lake. Get back in your car and head to Lake Afdera, which is well-known for its hot springs. Go back to Mekele and shower. Proceed to the airport in time for your early evening flight to Addis Ababa. When you arrive, a representative from Awaze Tours will greet you and, if necessary, help with lodging or travel arrangements.
